| Beatrice Joan Caulfield nasceu em East Orange, Nova Jersey em 01 de Junho de 1922 e faleceu em 18 de Junho de 1991, foi uma atriz e modelo americana. Depois de ter sido descoberta por produtores da Broadway, ela começou sua carreira nos palcos em 1943 o que a levou a um contrato com a Paramount Pictures. Joan se mudou para West Orange durante a infância mas continuou estudando em Nova Jersey. Durante a adolescência, a família se mudou para Nova York onde Joan foi estudar na Universidade de Columbia. Um dos seus mais memoráveis papéis foi em "The Unsuspected" (1947). Mais tarde, ela apareceu mais na TV. |
| Dizem que seu filme "Dear Ruth" (1947) inspirou o escritor J.D. Salinger a colocar como protagonista de sua novela "The Catcher in the Rye" (1951), um personagem como o nome "Holden Caulfield" depois de ter visto Caufield e William Holden. Outros já dizem que Salinger pegou o nome quando viu Caulfield numa foto publicitária. Foi casada duas vezes e com cada um teve um filho. Joan faleceu, aos 69 anos, de câncer nos pulmões em Los Angeles e suas cinzas foram espalhadas no Oceano Pacífico. |
